Today, we’ll look at the story of Ruth and Naomi, two women that we meet at a crisis moment in their lives. The future looks hopeless. Their circumstances and emotions overwhelm them. And Naomi concludes that not only has God failed her, but He must also be against her.
Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever looked through the lens of your circumstances and wondered, “Where is God?” Have your feelings convinced you that God has abandoned you? Yes. That’s why we can’t interpret our lives based on our circumstances or ourfeelings. We have to look at life through the truth and promises of God’s Word. We have to know what He’s told us He’s doing in, around, and through us. We have to know how He’s worked in the past in order to glimpse how He’s probably working right now.
The Bible tells us that God is for us. Nowhere did He prove that more than in sending His Son Jesus to save us. Naomi and Ruth played a significant role in fulfilling that promise. Today, as we observe the Lord’s Supper, let me challenge you to look at your life through the lens of Jesus Christ. Hold the cup and the bread, and trust that His sacrifice is all the proof you need that God is for you. Every promise God has ever made is answered “Yes!” in Jesus Christ.
